Description
Fluorosilicone is like silicone rubber, bonding trifluoropropyl, methyl, and vinyl as side chains.

The mechanical and physical properties are similar to VMQ. However, FVMQ offers improved fuel and mineral oil resistance, but poorer hot air resistance than standard VMQ. FVMQ is most often used in aerospace applications for systems requiring fuel and/or diester-based lubricant resistance up to 204°C (400°F). Although generally specified for aerospace use, due to its excellent fuel resistance and high temperature stability, Flurorosilicone is becoming an increasingly popular material for a wider range of sealing applications.


Application Advantages

Limitations

  • Due to relatively low tear strength, poor abrasion resistance, and high
    friction characteristics, FVMQ are generally recommended for static
    applications only.
